[ 11.10.06 ] Best Live Theater: Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater The Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in Medford edged out the Oregon Shakespeare Festival as readers' favorite live theater, reversing last year's results. The GRT is a performing arts center with its own presenting arm that also serves as a home for a number of community events each year. The GRT features singers, dancers, kids' shows, cocerts, touring Broadway shows and area arts groups. Patrons praise the Craterian for its programming, its beauty and its acoustics. Stephen McCandless, GRT's executive director, says of the honor from Mail Tribune readers: "Of course, on any given day we'd be honored to be recognized as the people's choice, but it's particularly gratifying now since we're celebrating our 10th season. We also know how lucky we are to be in such a generous and engaged community. The Craterian's current season wraps up May 27 with the hit musical comedy 'Hairspray'."
